Amidst the clink of glasses and lazy conversations in the square you would never believe that this had once been the seat of Croatian Kings. Statues and ruins will tell you the story. So will the locals, with a suspicious familiarity with days and men they've never seen. Still, perhaps, you can see something of their glory in the summer sun here. Just outside the walls the salt gathers on the sand and bathers bask on the white shores of a half forgotten kingdom.
